Google e-book store coming soon

Guess who just joined the e-book store race? Apparently the web giant Google has got the support of almost all US publishers to start its own e-book store according to a report from Japan Today. Google had earlier announced it’s plans to enter the digital bookstore which is soon going to be a reality.

The report said

“U.S. online search giant Google Inc has clinched the support of almost all publishers in the United States for its digital bookstore expected to be launched as early as the end of June, company officials said Sunday. The number of authors and publishers that have agreed to participate in Google’s sales effort to distribute books online topped 25,000 as of Sunday, the officials added.”

The news poses a huge threat to Amazon and Apple who have already settled their space in the world of digital books. The report said that the Google e-book store is expected to have about 4million books including the ones with expired copyrights.

Google already has a web dominance. Letting users buy the books through it search as Google plans to have it is a great move in terms of user experience. As Google plans to venture into the tablet market, having an e-book store is a sure advantage.
